Joe & Dough

Not long ago,I went to Joe & Dough [@ Kallang Leisure Park] for a lil' coffee break before my Mid-year Examinations (MYE) started.Back then,I didn't have the time to blog.I had spent a peaceful afternoon,sipping on coffee and thinking about my study schedule at Joe's.Of course,there was 'that' Instagram moment (if you know what I mean).I had an Iced Vanilla latte and a scone,while my mother tried their hot latte and lemon tart.

Food Rating:

The lattes: The iced one was refreshing for a hot day.It wasn't overly-sweet and the vanilla-coffee blend was nice.The hot latte had quite a lot of foam and came with a simple,well-made foam design.

The lemon tart: It's tangy,sweet and had a flavorful,lemony taste.

The tart crust was crisp and worked well with the lemon curd. (Must Try)

The scone:Not your average scone-where you'll get bored of the plain,sticky-chewy feel.The top was glazed and golden brown.When you cut it,it's not dry or crumbly.I loved the warm,soft and light taste.You can seriously eat it on its own without any jam,butter or heavy cream.

The scone had cranberries inside and I tasted traces of orange(?).

[If I remember correctly-but it could just be me.Should any of you 

try it and taste a bit of orange,let me know in the comments.]

The service was excellent.The cashier wasn't a pushover and polite.The atmosphere was cozy and warm.The wooden elements in the room suits the ambiance too.I loved the decorations too.

The shelf behind the barista area was so pretty.The shelf had a big chalkboard with drawings and descriptions of the whole coffee bean process.Pillows,books and small plants were also on the shelf.

The pricing might come across as pricey to some but I think it's usual for a cafe.It's around the same price as Starbucks.However,some of their coffees come in a small glass (kind of like a shot-glass) and paying $5-7 for it doesn't seem satisfying.All in all,I would definitely go back to Joe and Dough for reading,coffee breaks and chats.

1.Wreck this Journal by Keri Smith.
I found this at PageOne in the HK airport while I was waiting for my flight to Seoul.
(I did a short stop-over).I was unable to find this book in Singapore and was really excited when I saw it.There was the original one and the pocket sized version.I chose the small one because it was portable & cheaper :)
Price:$100 HK dollar

2.Cloud Paper Mobile
Bought this at DDP (Dongdaemun Design Plaza-D3)
Planning to do it and hang it in my room
-I forgot the price,but it isn't expensive-.

3.Mini Yankee Candles-with pot
Champaca blossom( Left )-floral scent
Midnight Jasmine ( Middle )-smells refreshing and floral/sweet

Got this at a Yankee Candle store near Centermark Hotel
There was no tax at all in that store so my total for everything was $12,400+  rather than $12,700+

4.'Winner' candle by Kang Seung-Yoon (Scent:Sake)
Bought this at KLive (Level 9 of Lotte Fitin)I don't like K pop music in general because it's not my taste.I was there because another family member of mine loves K pop so I had to be there to buy merch .I was surprised that there were candles made by 'Winner' among all the other merch by groups like 2NE1/BigBang which only had mugs/shirts etc.This candle was the only one that smelled the nicest-smells like a mix of  fruits and flowers,really sweet.
The other candles smelled strong/cologne-ish (?)
Price: $12,000 Korean Won

5.Green Tea Latte Sachets
I love green tea lattes,ever since I tried my first one at Incheon airport back in 2012.(when I first went to Korea with a tour group).I  saw this at G25 and intended to bring it back home and make myself a cup.
The box  comes with 10 sachets.You can make it hot/cold.
-Price: somewhere around $4000-5000 Korean Won.I 'm not sure where my receipt went-

6. Pomegranate drink
This was at the Souvenirs & Gifts section of the Incheon airport.I don't know why this was there because it's not really a gift..
I went to a Chinese restaurant in the Gwanghwamun Square museum on the first day,and they served this as a refresher after you had your meal.I had no idea what flavour it was then because it tasted similar to Ribena.Then, I found this drink box 2 days later.It's best served with ice so I thought this would be nice to drink in the summer/when it's hot.

7.Nothing.To.Wear,long-sleeved top.
Before I went to Korea,I saw white, 'I  HAVE NOTHING TO WEAR' sweaters  at New Look and Cotton On.
C.O sells them at $30 while New Look's one is much more expensive. They both look similar and the price is kind of unreasonable (IMO) This top was from a shop called The-Ace in Lotte Fitin.They had a whole rack of clothes for $7000 Korean Won each,which is around $8 in SGD (LEGIT MUCH) Other racks with clothes for $14,000 and $21,000.
Anyways,I picked this out in the $7000 KRW section and bought it.Although it ain't a sweater and lacks the words 'I HAVE',I didn't mind.The inside is soft and has a fuzzy texture.Other colours available are white and grey.

8. F21 Skinny jeans
I was walking by the shops at Myeongdong (around 5pm)  and they had a tall,F21 building.Went in and they had a Women's denim jeans section-each pair for $9,900 KRW.It costs around $11 in SGD.[TOTAL WIN]
F21 now sells autumnal clothes in Korea,which is sort of sad because Singapore is full of sunshine and if you wear a sweater,good luck getting drenched in sweat.
I take ages to try jeans because you have to find your size,take 'em off and wear back your original outfit,so after I was done with F21,I didn't want to continue shopping that day.

MAAX Cafe

Hello everyone! My end-of-year exams just ended today and I'm so excited for all the shopping and blogging I get to do afterward. Today, school ended early at 10 a.m, so my best friend and I paid a visit to M.A.A.X Hair Cafe. I have been to this cafe before with my cafe-hopping friend for a quick drink but didn't get to try the food then.

The cafe is located at Siglap V, next to Craftsmen Specialty-[another cafe!], which is a convenient place to stop for brunch as the bus we usually take to go home passes by Siglap street. Inside, there's a chalkboard menu, loads of comfy furniture, and old-fashioned light bulbs. The place is rather small,cozy and has little seats,which is something I personally like. It has this suburban-swanky look and isn't busy most the time.The cafe is next to MAAX hair salon, another part of the cafe. We went on a late Friday morning and it was kind of awkward-two school girls stepping into an empty cafe with the barista & owner discussing about their renovation ideas...

My friend and I chose the big breakfast and breadbasket respectively, from the all-day breakfast menu. The food was excellent, freshly made with quality ingredients and delicious. My 'bread basket' includes a croissant-[probably the biggest, fluffiest croissant I've ever had], along with a yummy poached egg. After the breakfast sets, we tried the Chocolate Truffle cake. It's $5.90, with added tea/coffee-$7.90.

The design and atmosphere are wonderful, different from your usual Starbucks or CBTL. The price may seem sort of expensive to some but I find it rather acceptable. There's no GST (I think), when we paid, the total was exact to what it states on the menu.[E.g: $9+$14+$5.90=$28.90]

However, this cafe is undergoing renovation from 13 October-31 October 2014...so try and go there before the 13th or you'll have to wait until November :(
